Uni is essentially free, but the cost of living is extremely high, and you have to document you have the funds to support yourself while you study (NOK 95 000/yr and goes up annually). You can’t count on being able to get a job in that time either. One is the practical considerations, medical school is time consuming and unskilled part time work is hard to come by.

The other thing is that your permission to work (20 hrs a week during studies, 40/hrs week during holidays) is only granted automatically for your first study permit, when you renew it (which you have to do annually), you have to get a letter from the school stating that working isn’t affecting your studies. Normally this isn’t an issue, but it very well could be with medical school.

ColdBoy Premium Ale
study in norway

A bottle of Premium Ale from ColdBoy Brewery in Askim, Norway, at Håndverkerstuene in Oslo.

ColdBoy Premium Ale is a 4.9% abv amber ale. It poured a clear reddish amber color with a thin, bubbly head. It sported a mild fruity malt aroma with some toasted notes. Mouthfeel was light to medium heavy with a soft carbonation. It had a nice malty flavor with a mild roasted bitterness lingering in the aftertaste. Overall a decent amber ale, but I prefer his take on Stout.

ColdBoy Brewery is a new Norwegian brewery established in March 2012 by Arvid Tennefoss who had picked up the interest for beer and brewing, as well as the ColdBoy nickname, while studying in England. He currently brews all his three beers at an undisclosed brewery in England, but in the future he plans to construct his own brewery in Askim.
